Some Updates...

So...here are some updates on the wedding process. We got engaged in January. I told everyone that I was going to enjoy the "engagement" part of being engaged...it actually meant I was too busy with work to even start looking at places. However in April, I started looking quite extensively at ceremony sites and reception halls. Unfortunately, this blog is called "Chitown Bride"...that went out the window when I realized it would be too expensive to have a wedding in downtown Chicago. So I started searching in the suburbs. I could give you the long drawn out story about the fact that I went from place to place, broke down in tears twice, because nothing was exactly what I was looking for. Instead I will give you the short version - the first place I went to after I realized Chicago was out - I fell in love with - Meyer's Castle in Dyer, Ind. BUT I didn't like the price - because it was somewhat out of my budget, so I started looking again. However, came back to Meyer's and realized I wanted it there. Talked to the fiance, cried to my mother...and poof - I decided this is where I want it. Again...not a bridezilla. We signed the deal in early June. The only thing that angered me on the deal - they make you have a wedding coordinator (and it is not cheap)..but whatever. I can AT LEAST check that off the list! Yeah...

So one tip for future brides - buy Bridal Bargains. Probably one of the best books ever to tell you exactly how to save money on weddings. Unfortunately, I have not utilized it completely, because I didn't save any money on the reception part. HOWEVER - I am having a Sunday wedding over Memorial Day weekend, which decreased the prices tremendously.
