Oh So Classy...

So the birdcage veil is a go. My mother thinks she can make it and actually picked up "the perfect" material to make it work. We will see when I head home fo x-mas. This photo is my inspiration. I actually got this photo off Classic Bride, a while ago, but really like it because I think I can pull it off along with one of those very beautiful combs. My fear is that I am going to look like a turkey that is wrapped in that netting?!

Something Bold

About a week ago, I came across this post on Classic Bride about birdcage veils. I was thrilled because I actually had the same idea! My mother is making my veil and thought I was wanting your typical one, so unfortunately, I have thrown a little bit a curve ball for her because now I want to see if she can make a birdcage veil instead. I did some investigating and found Something Bold which makes these type of veils for around $35 or more. Actually even sent an email to them and they responded right back, answering all my questions. So if mom can't come through - I think I am going to go this route. And after trying on my dress which has a very 1950's look to it - I think I can get away from it. I found these on brides.com...

What is in a veil, really?

So...After you find that dream dress...the pressure begins to find a veil to match. If you go through a salon, my advice - don't do it! My mother is a pretty good seamstress. She ended up making a veil in about five minutes at a cost of 15 bucks. Now it was a mock one and she says she is going to make another one with better material, but likely will not cost more than 20 bucks. Are you kidding me? Do you know how much they cost at salons? Between $80-150 bucks. WHAT? I told my mother that I think I am just going to chain her to a sewing machine, force to make hundreds of these suckers and sell them on the internet. We could make a killing and I could pay for this wedding!
