Bridesmaids Shoes

(StudioThisIs)
So this discussion came up over the weekend with two of my bridesmaids - do we have to have matching shoes when you are wearing tea-length dresses? At first my reaction was - yeah... However, all of my bridesmaids have very different tastes, which means they have very different views on shoes. One wants to wear something strappy...another wants something open toe. So do bridesmaids have to wear the same type of shoe? I would rather have all of them be comfortable...anyone have some great advice?

I personally take the side of no, they do not all have to match. I have really high arches and need comfort in order to stand all day. I can find comfort + style, but usually need to fork over the extra $ for that combo. I wouldn't expect everyone to do that, so I'd say let them all chose what they want to wear. Obviously you would pick the color and they could pick the style! Good luck :)

I also say no. I was asked to do that and it was kind of a challenge since shoes aren't as easy to order as bridesmaids dresses. She also played around with asking us to dye our shoes to match (hot pink!) and we were all a little nervous. I agree with aletha- pick the color, maybe even the general style, but let them buy (or dig around in their closet) for their own.

I struggled with this a little too, and ultimately decided to let them pick their own shoes. I agree with Natalie, just give them a guideline on color and general style and call it a day!

Definitely yes!

Even if they are inexpensive shoes from Payless - check out knottie chicagobride_07 for an example-- I think it looks very unmatched in a street or tea length dress.

Same color, but leave it at that. You want happy, smiling friends around you on your wedding day!
